Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, has released the rescheduled programme of events for its 18th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The notice covers regular, sandwich, SLT, weekend, part-time and affiliate graduands, as well as parents, guardians and members of the public.
What DELSU Will Award at the Convocation
The convocation ceremony will include the award of Diplomas, admission into First Degrees, and the award of Higher Degrees and Prizes.
It is a busy week on paper; graduands will need to track the dates properly, especially those collecting gowns and scrolls before the main ceremony.
DELSU Convocation Gown Collection and Return Dates
Academic gowns and scrolls will be available for collection from Monday, 20 April to Thursday, 30 April 2026.
The final deadline for returning gowns is Monday, 4 May 2026.
Graduands should keep that return date close, since the notice gives it as the last day for returning academic gowns.
DELSU 18th Convocation Schedule of Events
The activities begin with prayers and services, then move into press, sports, lecture, drama, awards and the main convocation day.
Friday, 24 April 2026
Jumat Prayers will hold for Muslim members of the DELSU community.
Sunday, 26 April 2026
A Pre-Convocation Service will hold at St. Paul Catholic Chaplaincy, Site II, Abraka Campus.
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Tuesday, 28 April 2026
The Vice-Chancellor’s Press Conference will hold by 10:00 a.m.
Sports Activities and Novelty Match will follow by 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 29 April 2026
The Convocation Lecture will hold by 10:00 a.m.
Convocation Drama will take place by 4:00 p.m.
Thursday, 30 April 2026
Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service will hold at All Saints’ Anglican Chapel, Site III, Abraka Campus.
Time: 9:00 a.m.
Alumni Day and Presentation of Awards will hold by 2:00 p.m.
The awards will cover First Class Graduating Students, Best Graduating Students in each Department and Faculty, and the overall three Best Students of the University.
Saturday, 2 May 2026
This is the main Convocation Day.
The grand finale will include:
- Award of Diplomas, First Degrees and Higher Degrees
- Investiture of Professor Emeritus
- Conferment of Honorary Degrees
- Award of Prizes
Note on the Previous DELSU Bulletin
DELSU stated that this publication replaces the previous bulletin, S.E. VOL. XXXV, NO. 35, dated Friday, 17 April 2026.
That means graduands and guests should use this rescheduled timetable for the 18th Convocation Ceremony.
