Mountain Top University (MTU) has recorded a new academic milestone, as its Department of Nursing Science has secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
NUC regulates university education in Nigeria.
About the MTU Nursing Science Programme
The Department of Nursing Science started in 2024 as one of the departments under the College of Allied Health Sciences.
Within a short period, the department met national academic standards and professional requirements for the programme.
NUC Accreditation Visit
A team from the National Universities Commission visited Mountain Top University in January 2026 for the accreditation assessment.
The team reviewed teaching and learning resources, laboratory facilities, library holdings, curriculum content and classroom facilities; these checks formed part of the process used to assess the department’s readiness to train Nursing students.
Full Accreditation Result
The result of the NUC review came out in May 2026.
MTU’s Department of Nursing Science earned full accreditation status, giving the programme formal backing under the national university quality check process.
Vice-Chancellor Reacts
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elijah Ayolabi, described the achievement as a mark of MTU’s steady pursuit of excellence.
He thanked the Chancellor, Dr D. K. Olukoya, a Professor of Biotechnology and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Worldwide, for his leadership and support.
Prof. Ayolabi also praised the Governing Council, management, faculty and the wider university community for their shared effort, resilience and commitment to high academic and moral standards.
What the Accreditation Means for MTU
The full accreditation gives national approval to MTU’s Nursing Science programme.
With this result, Mountain Top University continues to build its name as a growing centre of learning, with a focus on producing skilled, ethical and work-ready graduates for Nigeria’s healthcare sector and the wider community.
