The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, working with the University of Uyo, has invited tertiary students across the state to take part in the 2026 World Heritage Day Celebration.
The theme for the event is “Akwa Ibom Heritage Alive”. Students are asked to submit original work inspired by that theme; the call covers several creative formats and sets clear dates for entry, selection and winner announcement.

Students can submit original work in any of these categories:
- Spoken word and monologues
- Essays and short stories
- Songs, dance and music
- Visual arts and crafts
- Other creative expressions
Prize money for winners
The organisers announced three cash prizes for the top entries:
- 1st Prize: N1,000,000
- 2nd Prize: N600,000
- 3rd Prize: N400,000

The competition follows this schedule:
- 26 March 2026: Official opening
- 7 April 2026: Deadline for submissions
- 18 April 2026: Announcement of winners
Students who plan to enter will need to work within those dates; late entries are not listed in the notice.

Rules for submissions
The notice states that all entries must be original and of high quality.
