Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited, “Midwestern”, in partnership with SunTrust Atlantic Energies, has opened applications for its 2026/2027 scholarship scheme. The programme is meant to promote academic excellence and skill-based education for students from its host communities and Delta State.
About the scholarship scheme
Midwestern stated that the scholarship scheme supports students from host communities and Delta State. The company said the programme is part of its effort in human capital development and socio-economic growth.
Since its inception in 1999 and the start of operations in 2001, Midwestern has remained active in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. The company said it continues to invest in people; that focus runs through this Scholarship Scheme.
Scholarship categories
The 2026/2027 Midwestern scholarship has three award categories.
Secondary School Community Award
This award is open to JSS 1 and JSS 2 students only.
Requirements
Applicants must provide:
- admission letter to a secondary school in Nigeria
- result of the last year in primary school or JSS1 result
- birth certificate
- identification letter signed by any member of the Board of Trustees (BOT)
University Community Award
This category is for host communities only.
Requirements
Applicants must meet these conditions:
- scholarship is open to 100 and 200 level students at the time of application
- minimum of 5 credits in SSCE or GCE, including Mathematics and English, in one sitting
- current university ID card
- JAMB/UTME and university admission letter from an accredited or approved university in Nigeria
- identification letter signed by any member of the Board of Trustees (BOT)
University Merit Award
This category is for Delta State indigenes only.
Requirements
Applicants must provide the following:
- scholarship is open to 200 level students with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 at the time of application
- minimum of 5 credits in SSCE or GCE, including Mathematics and English, in one sitting
- JAMB/UTME and university admission letter from an accredited or approved university in Nigeria
- current university ID card
- letter of identification stating the applicant’s LGA and senatorial zone: Delta North, Delta South, or Delta Central
Who can apply
The scheme covers these groups:
- JSS 1 and JSS 2 students under the Secondary School Community Award
- 100 and 200 level students from host communities under the University Community Award
- 200 level Delta State indigenes under the University Merit Award
