The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, now Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, has announced its 23rd Convocation Ceremony for graduating ND and HND students of the 2024/2025 academic session. The notice also invites the general public to the line-up of events for the ceremony.
The statement came from the Registrar on behalf of the Acting Vice Chancellor/Rector. The programme will run for a full week; it is set to mark academic achievement, growth within the school, and the conferment of honorary fellowships on distinguished personalities.
Convocation programme and dates
Friday, 10 April 2026
Activities will begin with the unveiling of the convocation mascot at the Beautiful Gate by 10:00 a.m.
A Jumat service will follow at the Polytechnic Mosque by 12:00 noon.
Saturday, 11 April 2026
The school will hold a convocation funfair at the Pavilion Ground by 10:00 a.m.
A football match between staff and students will take place at the football pitch by 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, 12 April 2026
A church service is scheduled for the Christian Union Cathedral by 10:00 a.m.
Monday, 13 April 2026
An exhibition will hold at the Multipurpose Hall by 10:00 a.m.
A media chat with the Acting Vice Chancellor/Rector will follow at the Mass Communication Studio.
Tuesday, 14 April 2026
The day has been fixed for Alumni Day activities.
The alumni walk will start from the DSA’s office by 7:00 a.m.
An alumni dinner will hold at the Multipurpose Hall by 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 15 April 2026
The grand finale will hold with the convocation and fellowship award ceremony at the Graduation Pavilion by 9:00 a.m.
Convocation lecture
One major part of the ceremony is the convocation lecture. The lecture is titled “Digital Literacy: Fundamental Skills and Job Creation Tools for Graduands in the 21st Century.”
Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, Executive Governor of Katsina State, will deliver the lecture.
Notice to graduating students
Graduating students are to note that collection of academic gowns will begin on 8 April 2026. Payments are to be made through the school’s portal, with compliance to the stated procedures.
The management said all gowns must be returned by 16 April 2026. Any late return will attract a fine of N1,000 per day.
Attendance at the convocation ceremony is compulsory for all HND graduands. Absence will attract a penalty of N10,000.
