FUOYE Cautions Against Fake Cut-off Marks, Social Media Fraud
Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) warns the public about fake 2023/2024 UTME cut-off marks circulating on social media, stressing that official marks are yet to be released. The University also alerts the public against internet fraudsters misusing the Vice-chancellor's identity on social media to defraud unsuspecting victims.
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding false information circulating on social media about the institution’s 2023/2024 cut-off marks for the recently concluded 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
Beware of Fraudulent Cut-off Marks
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media Matters, Wole Balogun, the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, clarified that the University has not released any official cut-off marks for the 2023 UTME. He cautioned prospective students and their parents to disregard any such information, emphasizing that the false cut-off marks were the work of internet fraudsters intending to mislead the public.
The Vice-chancellor assured that when the official cut-off marks are ready, they will be formally announced through appropriate channels, particularly on the University’s official website.
Alert on Misuse of Vice-chancellor’s Identity
The University also highlighted another troubling trend involving fraudsters using fake social media accounts of the Vice-chancellor to deceive and defraud people. Prof. Fasina warned members of the public who are interested in engaging with the University for progress and development to be wary of establishing such relationships through social media.
He affirmed that neither he nor any member of the University’s management team conducts official business on social media. He advised that there are proper official channels for contacting them and encouraged the public to utilize these channels instead.
FUOYE’s Commitment to Excellence and Integrity
Despite these challenges, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold excellence in all aspects. The University takes pride in providing top-quality education and services to its stakeholders in alignment with the goals of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
In closing, the Vice-chancellor emphasized that FUOYE continues to strive for excellence in all ramifications and thanked everyone for their continuous trust and support. He also reminded the public to be vigilant and to verify any information regarding the University through its official communication channels.
