Kaduna State Academic Calendar 2025/2026 (KSSQAA): First, Second and Third Term Dates, Holidays and 2026/2027 First Term Preview

The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) has released a revised and approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session. The schedule covers all basic and post-basic schools, across public and private categories, in Kaduna State.

The calendar carries the signature of Professor Usman Abubakar-Zaria, the Director-General of KSSQAA; the dates spell out term opening, closing and each break in between (simple, but easy to miss if a parent skips one line).

Who the calendar applies to

KSSQAA stated that the calendar applies to:

• All public basic and post-basic schools in Kaduna State
• All private basic and post-basic schools in the state

So, whether a school runs a Government-owned timetable or a private schedule, the same dates are expected to Stand.

2025/2026 session breakdown (terms and holidays)

First Term (2025)

• First Term: Sunday, 7th September 2025 to Friday, 12th December 2025 (14 academic weeks)
• First Term holiday: Saturday, 13th December 2025 to Sunday, 11th January 2026 (4 weeks)

That break is four weeks; parents who plan travel around Christmas should note the return date so they do not get caught out.

Second Term (2026)

• Second Term: Monday, 12th January 2026 to Wednesday, 18th March 2026 (10 academic weeks)
• Second Term holiday: Wednesday, 18th March 2026 to Sunday, 12th April 2026 (3 weeks)

The Second Term closes and the holiday starts on the same date, 18 March 2026; a school may treat that day as closing activity, so guardians should check their own school's internal notice.

Third Term (2026)

• Third Term: Sunday, 12th April 2026 to Friday, 24th July 2026 (15 academic weeks)
• Third Term (long) holiday: Saturday, 25th July 2026 to Sunday, 6th September 2026 (6 weeks)

Third term is the longest stretch (15 weeks); it ends on 24 July 2026, then the long break starts the next day.

Preview: first term of 2026/2027 session

KSSQAA also shared an early view of the first term for the 2026/2027 session:

• First Term (2026/2027): Sunday, 6th September 2026 to Friday, 18th December 2026 (15 academic weeks)

Yes, the new session is set to begin 6 Sep 2026, right after the long holiday ends on 6 September 2026; the dates touch, so schools may treat the handover with tight timing.

• All public and private basic and post-basic schools in Kaduna State are to comply with the calendar provisions.
• National holidays will be observed, as directed by the Federal or State Government.
• If KSSQAA needs to change the calendar, the Authority will notify all concerned.
