Kano Renames Northwest University after Maitama Sule

The Kano State Government has renamed its Northwest University as Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano.

It noted that the decision was unanimously agreed by the Executive Council during an extraordinary meeting of the council Wednesday night “to immortalize Late Danmasanin Kano Alhaji Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule due to his immense contributions to the development of Kano, Arewa and Nigeria at large”.
The Commissioner of Information, Malam Mohammed Garba, announced the decision at a news conference in Kano on Thursday.
Garba also said the council had approved the renaming of Dawaki road where the residence of the deceased was located to Yusuf Maitama Sule.
The commissioner added that the council had equally renamed Yusuf Maitama Sule link road to Jafaru Dan Malam link road.
