OAU NELFUND Loan Notice for 2025/2026 Students

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has issued an important notice to all newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session regarding the NELFUND Student Loan process. This update provides clear guidance for both fresh and returning students on how to apply and manage their applications effectively.

All students of OAU, whether newly admitted or returning, are eligible to apply for the NELFUND Loan. However, fresh students can only begin their loan application after receiving their matriculation numbers. Applications are to be completed through the official NELFUND Portal.

Key Details of the OAU NELFUND Loan Process

The NELFUND Student Loan consists of two main components:

1. Upkeep Allowance:
   • This is a monthly payment of ₦20,000 made directly to the student’s account.
   • Only applicants who select this option during the application process will receive this amount.
2. School Charges:
   • This portion is paid directly to the University’s account to cover tuition and related fees.
   • If a student has already paid these fees before the loan disbursement, the University will refund the amount after receiving payment from NELFUND.

Applicants should note that processing and payment may take some time. To avoid delays in registration, students are advised to make a 50% part-payment of their approved school charges while awaiting NELFUND disbursement. The University assures that any such payments will be refunded once NELFUND credits the University with the full amount.
