UNICROSS NELFUND Loan Update: Approved Students Must Verify at DICT
The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has issued a reminder to students who applied for loan under the Federal Government NELFUND Loan Scheme. The university stated that some loan applications have been approved and disbursements made.
Still, UNICROSS said it noticed a gap: some students with approved loans do not know their approval status; others have heard but do not know the right steps to confirm and collect their school fee payment receipts.

Who this notice concerns
This notice targets:
- UNICROSS students who applied for the Federal Government NELFUND Loan Scheme and
- especially those whose applications have been approved (whether they know it yet or not).
What UNICROSS said it observed
UNICROSS reported two main issues:
- some approved applicants are not aware their loan application has been approved and
- some students who know about approval still do not know how to verify the loan or get the school fee payment receipt.
That mix-up can delay confirmation on the school side; the university wants students to clear it quickly.
What students must do now
All concerned students are required to go to the ICT Unit of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) to:
- verify their loan status and
- collect their school fee receipts.
Students should follow the directive as stated; no shortcut, no guessing and no "someone said".
Why the DICT verification matters
UNICROSS stated that students can validate their loan disbursement through compliance with the directive in the circular. The university added that only after this validation will:
- the loan disbursement be confirmed by UNICROSS and
- the student's name be included on the official list of students who have paid their school fees.
So, the receipt collection step is not a small detail; it is part of the university's confirmation process (and that list matters).
Final note to applicants
UNICROSS ended the reminder with a clear instruction to follow the directive in the circular. Students who applied under the NELFUND loan scheme should visit DICT, confirm status and collect the relevant school fee payment receipt.
