RETTI/WAVE Solar Power Installation & Employability Program

An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals eager to dive into the thriving solar energy sector. The Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI) and the West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE) are pleased to announce the opening of applications for their intensive in-person Scholarship course for 2023 – The Solar Power Systems Installation and Employability Program. The program, primarily based in Ajah, Lagos, is a comprehensive hands-on training opportunity for residents in and around the area. This initiative offers a unique chance to learn about solar system design, installation and gain employability skills within the solar industry.

Lighting Up Lives: The RETTI X WAVE Scholarship Program

The RETTI X WAVE Scholarship Program is an endeavour that seeks to train young individuals, women and less privileged persons or students in Solar Power Design, Installation and Employability Skills. This approach aligns with the program's objective to enhance the availability of skilled workers for the impending energy transition.

The initiative aspires to invest in the technical capacities of young Nigerians in Renewable Energy Technology and to create a pathway for career advancement within the energy value chain. The ultimate goal is to build a competent workforce for the renewable energy industry, fostering entrepreneurs who can broaden access to clean energy for millions in Nigeria without it.

Fully Funded Scholarship

Selected candidates will receive a fully-funded training experience, generously provided by partners and incurring no costs to beneficiaries. The comprehensive scholarship includes:

• Tuition fees
• Comprehensive training reading materials and textbooks
• Safety helmet, jacket and gloves for practical purposes
• Hands-on practical equipment
• Lunch provisions
• Certificates of completion

Eligibility Criteria

The RETTI/WAVE scholarship is open to individuals aged between 25 and 40 years, residing in Etiosa LGA (in Ajah or nearby areas). Applicants must demonstrate a keen interest in learning, commit to attending the two-week in-person training and adhere strictly to the program schedule. Please note that any missed classes may lead to disqualification, with the slot allocated to a more committed individual.

The Application Process

The RETTI/WAVE program will commence from 17th July and run until 29th July 2023. A graduation ceremony and certificate distribution event will take place on the closing day, 29th July 2023.
