University of Uyo (UNIUYO) Easter Public Holiday 2023
The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) announces its closure during the Easter public holidays, April 7 (Good Friday) and April 10, 2023 (Easter Monday), allowing the university community to celebrate the religious occasion. Normal work resumes on April 11, 2023.
The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has announced its closure for normal business during the upcoming Easter public holidays on Friday, April 7, 2023 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 10, 2023 (Easter Monday). This decision comes in accordance with the federal government's declaration of public holidays to commemorate the Christian religious ceremonies marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Closure Announcement and Approval
In a statement to the university community, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, has approved the closure of the university for normal business during the public holidays. He emphasized that no official duty or academic engagement should be scheduled on these days, allowing students, faculty and staff to participate in the Easter celebrations.

Essential Services and Alternative Arrangements
While the university will be closed for normal business, staff members on essential services will continue to perform their duties as scheduled. Prof. Ndaeyo has requested Heads of Departments to make alternative arrangements for such staff to enjoy their holidays at a convenient time, ensuring they do not miss out on the Easter celebrations.
Resumption of Normal Work
Normal work and academic activities will resume at the University of Uyo on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, following the Easter public holidays. The university community is encouraged to take advantage of this break to participate in religious ceremonies, spend time with loved ones and rejuvenate before returning to their regular schedules.
