FG Approves Acting Vice-Chancellor for Alvan Ikoku University

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has approved the appointment of Professor Onyeka Aloysius Chijioke as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri.

The appointment takes effect from 10th February 2025 and will last for six months.

Responsibilities of the Acting Vice-Chancellor

• Oversee university affairs during the transition period.
• Ensure the selection of a substantive Vice-Chancellor before the tenure ends.
• Not eligible to apply for the permanent role when the position is advertised.

Previous Role

Before this appointment, Professor Chijioke served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ideato, Imo State.

The Minister has expressed confidence in a smooth transition in the university’s leadership.
