Summary
The Council of Legal Education says only approved universities may admit students into the LL.B programme in Nigeria for 2026.
- Only CLE-approved universities may admit LL.B students
- Unapproved law admissions may attract sanctions
- Such students cannot enter Nigerian Law School
- The notice lists 111 universities
- Three universities carry admission moratoriums

The Council of Legal Education, Nigerian Law School, has released a public notice on the universities approved to admit students into the LL.B programme in Nigeria for 2026.
The notice is directed to the general public, prospective students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders. It states that only universities accredited by the Council of Legal Education are authorised to admit students into the Bachelor of Laws, LL.B, programme in Nigeria.
What the public notice says
The Council states that any university that admits students into a Law programme without its approval is acting against the rules that govern legal education in Nigeria.
It also states that such a university will face sanctions under extant regulations and policy.
The warning goes further; students admitted into Law programmes in universities not accredited by the Council of Legal Education will not be eligible for admission into the Nigerian Law School.
That point is the centre of the notice, and it is plain.
