InterswitchSPAK 8.0 registration opens for SS2 science students in Nigeria

Registration has opened for the InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition 8.0, one of Nigeria’s biggest STEM contests for secondary school students.

The competition is organised by Interswitch and offers over N40 million worth of university scholarships and other rewards for outstanding science students across the country. The organisers say the programme is set up to identify, nurture, and reward bright science students in Nigerian secondary schools; it also aims to encourage excellence in STEM education.

InterswitchSPAK 8.0 registration deadline

Registration is now open and will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, 22 May 2026.

The registration process is free for all participants, which means eligible schools and students can complete the form without any payment.

Who can register for InterswitchSPAK 8.0?

Secondary schools can register up to twenty SS2 science students for the competition.

Each school must register at least six students to take part.

Mixed schools must also include at least two female students among the candidates. That gender rule is part of the entry process, and schools need to get it right before submission.

Students can apply through the official InterswitchSPAK registration portal.

Online exam date and time

The qualifying examination for InterswitchSPAK 8.0 will be held fully online.

Candidates can write the Computer-Based Test from their schools, homes, or any other suitable place without travel. The online exam will run from Tuesday, 9 June to Tuesday, 16 June 2026, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM each day.

Participants can choose any day and time that suits them within that window. Each registered student will also have two chances to take the CBT, with the system picking the higher score.

Before the test begins, candidates will go through a five-minute demo session to help them get used to the platform.

Stages of the competition

The competition will run in stages.

At the first stage, all registered candidates will take the online qualifying examination.

Students who score 75% or higher in the first round will move to the next stage of the online qualifying examination. From there, the best 81 students will qualify for the second stage of the competition, which will feature the televised quiz show segment of the programme.

Scholarship prizes for top students

The competition comes with major academic rewards for the top performers.

First prize

The first prize is a five-year university scholarship with annual stipend worth N15,000,000, a brand-new laptop, and national recognition as the best science student in Nigeria.

Second prize

The second prize is a five-year university scholarship with annual stipend worth N10,000,000 and a brand-new laptop.

Third prize

The third prize is a five-year university scholarship worth N5,000,000 plus a brand-new laptop.

What the organisers say about the competition

The organisers say the competition is meant to inspire Nigerian youths to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

By rewarding academic excellence and fresh thinking, the initiative hopes to help raise a new generation of leaders who can drive technological advancement in Nigeria and beyond. Since it began, the InterswitchSPAK programme has drawn thousands of students from secondary schools across Nigeria; that reach has kept it firmly in View.
