UNILAG opens application for Doctoral Education BIP 2026

The Office of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects, University of Lagos, has announced that applications are open for the Blended Intensive Programme on Doctoral Education.

The programme is hosted by the University of Lille, France, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid and SGroup – Universities in Europe. It is open to PhD candidates, supervisors, researchers, and administrative staff; the aim is to bring these groups together to reflect on current directions and practices in doctoral education.

What the programme covers

The BIP on Doctoral Education is set up to create room for knowledge exchange within a European and international setting.

Participants will discuss doctoral supervision, support systems, and institutional cooperation in doctoral training. The programme will also address international research collaboration, open science, artificial intelligence, and changing societal expectations of research and higher education.

Interactive sessions and group discussions will give participants space to share practices and contribute to a responsible, sustainable, and globally oriented doctoral education framework.

Programme format, dates and venue

The programme will run in two parts.

Online session

The online session will hold on Monday, 18 May 2026.

On-site programme

The physical programme will run from Monday, 29 June to Friday, 3 July 2026, at the University of Lille, France.

The working language for the programme is English.

Application deadline and number of places

The application deadline is Monday, 30 March 2026.

The notice also states that only a maximum of 25 participants will be selected. That makes the deadline, and the timing, quite Plain.

How to apply

Interested applicants are expected to review the programme details through the Doctoral Education BIP programme website.

The website contains the draft programme, thematic focus areas, accommodation details, and registration steps.

Erasmus+ mobility grant

Participants may also be eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ mobility grant.

That will depend on the rules and procedures of the applicant’s home institution.

Extra step for UNILAG applicants

UNILAG staff and PhD candidates who apply through the programme website must also inform the SGroup UNILAG Coordinator after submission.

They are required to send a notification email to Dr. Victor Onifade via vonifade@unilag.edu.ng. The email is for institutional record and coordination purposes.

Who should apply

The call is directed at members of staff and PhD candidates who are interested in taking part in the programme.

For this group, the path is direct: submit the application through the programme website, then send a notification email to Dr. Victor Onifade.
