Governor Ademola Adeleke appoints Prof. Taiwo Asaolu as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, alongside the naming of other principal officers, marking a significant milestone for the institution.

University of Ilesa Pioneer Vice Chancellor

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced the appointment of principal officers for the newly established University of Ilesa. Prof. Taiwo Asaolu from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has been appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the university. Alongside him, Mr. Funso Ojo has been named Registrar, Dr. Mukaila Oyekanmi has been appointed Bursar, and Mr. Adewale Ogunsipe will serve as the Librarian.

Prof. Asaolu, a renowned professor of Accounting and Finance, previously held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Administration at OAU. Additionally, he chaired the University of Ilesa review panel, a committee established by Governor Adeleke to address outstanding issues and ensure the successful launch of the institution.

The spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, shared the announcement in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Thursday. According to Rasheed, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye, issued letters of appointment to the newly appointed principal officers and held a meeting with them in his office. During the meeting, he urged the appointees to maintain the virtues of professionalism and integrity that led to their selection by Governor Adeleke.

The appointment of these principal officers marks a significant milestone for the University of Ilesa, as it moves forward with its mission to provide high-quality education in Osun State. With experienced leaders such as Prof. Taiwo Asaolu at the helm, the university is well-positioned for success in the coming years.
