University of Lagos (UNILAG) postgraduate admission form for 2026/2027 session

The University of Lagos, UNILAG, will begin postgraduate admission for the 2026/2027 academic session on 7 April 2026.

Through the School of Postgraduate Studies, the university will admit candidates into a range of postgraduate programmes. The admission process covers Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s degree, professional Master’s degree, M.Phil. and Ph.D. options.

Programmes available

UNILAG listed several postgraduate study options for the 2026/2027 session.

These include:

• Postgraduate Diploma, PGD
• Master’s degrees such as M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc. and LL.M.
• Professional Master’s programmes such as MBA, MPH and MFM
• Doctoral studies, including Ph.D.

Study modes offered

The university stated that candidates can choose from different study formats to match their schedule.

The available modes are:

• Full-time
• Part-time
• Executive
• Open Distance Learning, ODL

Admission requirements

Applicants are expected to meet the stated entry conditions before starting the process.

A recognised Bachelor’s degree is required for PGD and Master’s applicants.

M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates must confirm supervisor availability in the relevant departments.

Applicants must also submit academic transcripts and an NYSC certificate.

How to apply

Candidates can complete the application through the UNILAG postgraduate application portal.

The process includes these steps:

1. Check eligibility for the preferred programme.
2. Generate a payment reference number.
3. Pay the application fee through Remita or online payment.
4. Log in with the reference number and complete the form.
5. Upload required documents, including degree certificates and passport photograph.
6. Submit the application before the closing date.

Important notices for applicants

UNILAG gave a few clear notices for candidates.

Applicants awaiting results are not eligible.

Candidates already enrolled in another postgraduate programme are also not eligible.

Degrees from outreach or satellite campuses will not be accepted.

Any editing after final submission attracts a fee of N2,500.
