AKSU Promotes Seven Academic Staff to Professor and Associate Professor Ranks

Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has announced the promotion of seven academic staff members after its 120th Senate Meeting held on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

The meeting took place at the Senate Chambers, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area. For the staff involved, this marks a new step in their academic work; for the university community, it is a moment of formal recognition.

AKSU Staff Promoted to Professor

Four academic staff members were promoted to the rank of Professor.

Professor Aniefiok E. Ite

Professor Aniefiok E. Ite serves as Deputy Director, Academic Planning, and Acting Director, Career Services Centre.

His department is Chemistry.

Professor Unwana Ekpe

Professor Unwana Ekpe is from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Professor Aniebiet Etuk

Professor Aniebiet Etuk serves as Acting Director, Centre for General Studies.

His department is Marketing.

Professor Ololade M. Olatunji

Professor Ololade M. Olatunji serves as Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

AKSU Staff Promoted to Associate Professor

The Senate also announced the promotion of three academic staff members to the rank of Associate Professor.

Dr. Godwin Ekong

Dr. Godwin Ekong serves as Acting Director, Centre for Automotive Training, Transport and Logistics.

His department is Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Promise Etim

Dr. Promise Etim serves as Acting Director, Mutual Partnership and University Development.

He also serves as Acting Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering.

Dr. Anietie Ekott

Dr. Anietie Ekott is from the Department of Geology.

AKSU Congratulates the Newly Promoted Scholars

The University Community congratulated the newly promoted scholars and wished them greater success in their academic and professional work.

The promotions cover staff from Chemistry, Engineering, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, and Geology; a spread that shows different academic units were represented at the 120th Senate Meeting.
