JAMB Admission Policy Meeting

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed Monday, 11 May, for its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions, where the minimum UTME cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 academic session will be considered.

The meeting will bring together top admission officers, regulators, and education stakeholders. It will also set the tone for how tertiary schools handle the next admission exercise.

JAMB to Decide 2026 UTME Cut-Off Marks

JAMB said the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions will deal with key matters tied to the 2026/2027 admission process.

One major item on the agenda is the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, cut-off marks. That decision matters because it gives schools a base mark for admission consideration, even though each admission process still follows laid-down rules.

The board made this known through a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

Venue and Date for the Policy Meeting

The meeting will hold on Monday, 11 May, at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.

That venue will host the yearly gathering where JAMB and other education stakeholders review admission rules, discuss minimum UTME marks, and agree on guidelines for tertiary schools.

Education Minister to Give Policy Direction

Fabian Benjamin said the Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, will unveil key policy directions at the meeting.

His role at the event will focus on the government’s position for the 2026/2027 admission exercise. JAMB also wants attendees to follow the agreed admission guidelines without cutting corners.

Who Will Attend the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting?

The meeting will include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from tertiary schools.

Regulatory bodies will also attend. They include the National Universities Commission, NUC, the National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, and the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE.

Goodwill messages are expected from other agencies, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

NATAP-M Awards to Feature at the Event

The event will also feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, NATAP-M.

According to the statement, the awards aim to encourage compliance with admission guidelines and improve standards in tertiary education.

What This Means for Candidates and Schools

The 11 May meeting will formally shape the 2026/2027 admission exercise.

For candidates, the key point is simple: JAMB has not yet announced the 2026 UTME cut-off marks in this statement. The board will decide the minimum marks at the policy meeting.

For schools, the meeting will provide the rules and admission direction to follow for the coming academic session.
