Among the most affected areas was Awo Hostel, where the flood submerged about 16 rooms on the underground floor. Students' property, including books, foodstuffs and personal belongings, was seen floating in the water.
Extensive Damage in Student Rooms
One student explained that the flood took over the rooms, toilets, kitchens and all entrances to the hostel. The impact was even more challenging for those who were not around at the time, as the flood damaged everything they owned.
Another student shared how the flood entered a friend's room, destroying everything, including items kept in cupboards. The losses have left many students with little to fall back on and the situation is difficult for those relying on these materials for ongoing exams.
The flood has highlighted the need for proper measures to prevent future occurrences, ensuring students can continue their studies without disruptions or fear of losing their belongings.
