Kano Shuts Down 26 Illegal Health-Training Institutions
The Kano State government has ordered the immediate closure of 26 private health technology institutes that are functioning unlawfully in the state.

The Kano State government shut down 26 Private Health Training Institutions (PHTIs) on Friday for allegedly operating illegally and without a licence from regulatory organisations.
According to the state, the recent increase of schools is detrimental to public health, educational progress, and the effectiveness of the health system.
The administration announced the closure in a statement signed by Hadiza Namadi, the state’s Ministry of Health Public Relations Officer, and made available to journalists on Friday.
“It is disheartening to see that some of those unrecognised institutions lack distinct locations and provide dubious programmes contrary to accepted course curricula, all while extorting high payments from students and their parents.”
“As a result, the general public is therefore notified of the immediate closure of all illegal Health Training Institutions (HTIs) in the state, pending the results of appropriate investigations,” the statement continued.
Unity College of Health Science and Technology Dorayi Karama, Gwale, Danbatta LGA; Khalil College of Health Science and Technology Zaria Road; Shamila College of Health Science and Technology Gezawa LGA; Autan Bawo College of Health Science and Technology Rano LGA; and Trustee College of Health Science and Technology Jakara, Dala LGA are among the schools that have been closed.
