The Federal University of Lafia has announced that the post of Bursar will be vacant on 5 May 2026. The University is inviting interested and qualified candidates to submit applications for the office.

The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the University. The officer is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

The Bursar is also expected to give University Management proper advice on all financial transactions. Put simply, the office sits at the Centre of the University’s finance system.

Academic and professional requirements
The candidate must possess a good honours degree in Accounting from a recognised institution. A higher degree is an added advantage.
The person must also be a qualified member of a professional body such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or its equivalent.
Work experience and rank
The candidate must have at least fifteen years of cognate experience. Out of that period, ten years must be unbroken service in the university system.
The person must also have attained the rank of Senior Deputy Bursar, or Deputy Bursar for five years, or its equivalent in a university.
Age and computer skill
The candidate must not be above 60 years of age by 5 May 2026.
The person must also be computer literate, with working knowledge of relevant accounting packages.
Salary and conditions of service
FULAFIA stated that the salary and conditions of service for the Bursar will be as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria.
No salary figure was stated in the notice.
