The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships provide a chance for international students to study at advanced levels in Ireland.
This programme is funded by the Irish Government in collaboration with Irish higher education institutions and managed by the Higher Education Authority.

Each year, 60 scholarships are awarded for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10.
Details of the Scholarship
A Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship includes a stipend of €10,000 for one year of study.
The host institution must waive all tuition fees and registration costs for the year of the scholarship.
Awardees are required to begin their studies in September or October 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet specific requirements to qualify for the scholarship.
- Candidates must be from outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland and the UK.
- Applicants must secure admission to a master's, postgraduate diploma or PhD programme at an eligible institution.
- A conditional or final offer of admission must be submitted along with the scholarship application.
- Applicants who previously received this scholarship are ineligible.
- Russian and Belarusian nationals are not eligible due to current international conflicts.
Evaluation Process
Applicants are assessed on academic performance, communication abilities and extracurricular involvement.
Participation in activities like humanitarian work, arts, politics or sports is considered.
Candidates must explain how the scholarship aligns with their goals and why they wish to study in Ireland.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted through the online portal.
Two references must be uploaded by the applicant using the same portal.
It is advised to complete the application well before the deadline to avoid server issues.
Once the deadline passes, no submissions or changes can be made.

All applications must be completed by 5 March 2025.
