The Council of Legal Education, Nigerian Law School, has released a step-by-step guide for candidates applying for the Bar Part I 2026 Programme.
The notice, signed by Aderonke O. Osho, Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, directs applicants to pay the application fee through Remita before moving to the Nigerian Law School portal for further processing. The process starts with payment, so candidates need to get that part right from the start.

Bar Part I 2026 Application Fee Payment
Applicants must first visit the Remita payment platform to pay the application fee.
On Remita, candidates should select "Pay FGN's and State TSA", then choose "Pay Federal Government of Nigeria". After that, they should type "Council of Legal Education" in the Name of MDA field.
The next field matters a lot; under "Name of Service/Purpose", applicants should choose "Application Fee". The approved application form fee is ₦30,000.
Candidates must enter their full names correctly in the "Applicant Name" field, with surname written first. This small detail can help prevent errors during processing.
After filling in the other required details, applicants can pay with an ATM card or visit any bank branch to complete the payment.
Bar Part I 2026 Application Form
After successful payment, applicants should complete the application form through the Bar Part I 2026 application form.
Once the form has been submitted, applicants will receive an email containing their Application Number and Password. They should keep both details safe, as they will need them to access the portal.
Nigerian Law School Portal Access
After receiving the application number, candidates should visit the Bar Part I 2026 portal access link.
On the website, applicants should click on "NLS Portal" and select "Bar Part I 2026 Portal". This takes them to the section where they can continue the application process with the login details sent to their email.

Candidates should complete the Remita payment before starting the portal stage. They should also make sure their names match the required format, with surname first and check their email for the Application Number and Password after submitting the form.
